Understanding Pro-rated Charges
Gist charges for the billing period ahead. For instance, when you pay your $29 monthly bill on January 1st, you're essentially covering the cost of up to 1,000 contacts from January 1 to January 31. In the event of changes to your plan, Gist applies a pro-rated system to calculate your bill.
Changing Your Plan
You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any point during your billing cycle. In the event of a change, the following will reflect in your next bill:
- A refund of the pro-rated amount for the unused time on your existing plan.
- A charge for a pro-rated amount for the remaining time on your new plan.
Upgrading Your Plan
Here's an example of what happens when you upgrade your plan:
On March 1, you paid $29 for the month of March. On March 20, you upgraded to the $49/mo plan. Your next bill will include:
- A refund for the 10 unused days on the $29 plan amounting to $9.66.
- A charge for the remaining 10 days on the upgraded plan, equates to $16.33.
Thus, on April 1, you will be charged $49 (for the next month) + $6.67 (the difference in cost for the upgraded days in March) = $55.67.
Downgrading Your Plan
If you have fewer subscribers and wish to downgrade your plan, here's what happens:
On May 1, you paid $49 for the month of May. On May 20, you downgraded to the $29/mo plan. Your next bill will include:
- A refund for the 10 unused days on the $49 plan amounting to $16.33.
- A charge for the remaining 10 days on the downgraded plan, equates to $9.66.
Thus, on June 1, you will be charged $29 (for the next month) - $6.67 (the difference in cost for the downgraded days in May) = $22.33.
Understanding Annual Plans
For users committed for the long term, our annual plans offer 12 months for the price of 10. However, please note that we do not offer refunds beyond our standard 14-day refund policy due to the bargain price.
Our Refund Policy
We offer a 14-day refund policy. If you cancel, you can request any funds paid in the last 14 days to be refunded in full. This policy applies to all plans, including annual ones. However, payments made more than 14 days before the request are not eligible for a refund or pro-rate.
Account Cancellation
When you cancel your account, it remains active until the last day of your billing period. We recommend understanding our refund policy and how pro-rated charges work to make the cancellation process smooth.
Why is there a $1 charge on your credit card statement?
On your credit card statement, you might notice a $1 charge. This is a temporary verification charge that our payment partner Stripe runs whenever you add or change your account's credit card on file. The charge ensures the card is a legitimate form of payment and checks for available funds. This charge will be automatically removed from your statement after 7 days.
How to customize the billing information in your Gist Invoice?
